To build on existing surf kayaking skills with a view to planning and executing your own trips.

Who is it for?

Anyone wishing to endorse their surf kayaking skills in small surf conditions.

Prerequisites

You must be a competent flat water kayaker with surf kayaking experience.

Assessments

For those that wish to gain a British Canoeing White Water Kayak Award, will need to complete the theory sessions and homework on the course. Attendance of this course will not necessarily get you up to the required standard to pass as everyone progresses at a different pace.  Those unsuccessful will be given an action plan to gain the required experience to pass the award.

Certificate fees are not included in the course costs, this must be paid directly to British Canoeing.

To gain the most from this course, we recommend you have your own kayak and paddling equipment, however we can provide you with the following equipment with borrowed with prior arrangement: kayak, paddle, helmet, spraydeck, buoyancy aid.

Equipment needed

Wetsuit or dry-suit and suitable clothing for the time of year should be worn. We will provide you with a kit list upon booking.

Transport

Lift sharing can be coordinated.

Accommodation

To keep the course costs down accommodation is not included. We can usually recommend some places to stay.
