Explore the beautiful UK countryside by water, taking in the scenic views and spotting some awesome wildlife along the way, is there a better way to spend a day?
We start at Barcombe Mills and paddle upriver to Isfield Weir (also known as Fish Ladder Falls). Depending on the group’s experience, our expert instructors will spend some time at Barcombe Mills helping you to get used to manoeuvring the kayak, how to turn, brake and paddle backwards. These skills will come in handy when we meet a few obstacles on our adventure, no spoilers, but how are your limbo skills? No binoculars needed as you’ll be right next to some awesome local wildlife, such as herons, swans, Canadian geese, dragonflies, damselflies and, if you’re lucky, a trout heading upstream to it’s spawning grounds.
We will pass the Anchor Inn, and when we arrive at the Weir, it’s time to stop and really take in your surroundings and reflect on what you’ve seen so far today while having a bite to eat. There’s also a great photo opportunity with the backdrop of rushing water.
This trip is suitable for all levels of kayakers, even if you’ve never sat in a boat before. Our experienced instructors can tailor the day to the group to make sure everyone gets the most out of it.
