The River Medway offers a fantastic opportunity to explore with numerous tributaries to take you off into the tranquil woodland surroundings, orchards, fields and historic villages. The area is known as the ‘Garden of England’ and it’s easy to see why...passing through overhanging willow trees and investigating hidden pools, you’ll feel as though you could be in the middle of a jungle as opposed to the middle of Kent! Remember to keep an eye out of Kingfishers as you paddle down the river, sightings are common around the area and you may even spot a Heron or maybe a Water Vole too! Take your time to enjoy the beautiful surroundings before finally ending up in East Peckham, where apparently the first speeding summons in Britain was issued, in 1896, Mr Arnold being fined 1 Shilling for doing 8 mph!
Whether you have never paddled before or you’re a regular paddler, our highly qualified instructors will ensure that everybody has a good time by adapting the trip to suit your needs and abilities.
This river trip along the River Medway is one of our many group days out on offer. Take a look at our other river trips including; the River Cuckmere, the River Arun and the River Ouse. Most rivers are tidal, meaning we can only paddle them on certain dates and times, please contact us to find out more.

River Medway - Yalding, Kent
All kayaking and safety equipment is supplied including:
For all kayaking courses you must have extra warm clothes and waterproofs, we will provide you with a full kit list upon booking.
The above list is just a guide and appropriate clothing for the time of year should be worn. We highly recommend you have a dry bag for all your kit on the water and to put your wet clothing in at the end of the day.
*Clothing should comprise several layers to trap the warmth. Please do not wear denim as it restricts movement, is cold when wet and is slow to dry. You must wear footwear whilst kayaking (old trainers, plimsolls) please don’t wear sandals. Wetsuits are not required as they only work when they are wet; if you wish to bring a wetsuit we still recommend you have a warm top.
Take a look at our online shop for any equipment you might want for your outdoor adventures. We stock a variety of equipment and can give expert advice if you have any queries. Choose to collect your order on a course (free of charge) and your instructor will have it ready and waiting for you when you arrive.
