ITC Level 3 Outdoor First Aid Course (8hrs)

The 1 day first aid course is perfect for those working or playing outdoors and want to get the confidence and knowledge to be able to act in an emergency. Enjoying the outdoors is incredibly important to us, and so we are here to equip you with the know-how and confidence to take on the outdoors and all it may bring. It's better to be prepared, than caught out. 

You will be learning hands on and in an outdoor environment from our highly experienced instructors who have years of experience teaching first aid and have diverse backgrounds working in the outdoors. 

During the course, we will cover

  • Roles and Responsibilities
  • Dealing with collapse (with and without breathing)
  • Choking
  • Bleeding
  • Shock
  • Burns

 

  • Monitoring the casulty
  • Environment effects
  • Heat and cold injuries
  • First aid kits
  • Outdoor specific scenarios
  • Outdoor incident management

This qualification is designed to provide outdoor incident management techniques and latest protocols. This course has a small amount of indoor theory elements but mostly outdoor, practical based learning. We will cover various outdoor scenarios including looking at different terrains and outdoor clothing.

CERTIFICATES

Electronic certificates are emailed out to learners approximately 2 weeks after the training.
This fully accredited qualification is regulated by the Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation (Ofqual) and is part of the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF).


VALIDATION

This ITC certified award is valid for 3 years. A full course will need to be attended again in 3 years time to revalidate. 
The HSE also strongly recommend that annual First Aid Refresher courses (3 hours) are attended to prevent skill fade, maintain confidence and update best practice.

Your centre: £700 + travel expenses.
Our centre: £900 (Brighton Marina or near East Grinstead in Sussex).

Old outdoor clothing including waterproofs for the practical elements of the course.

Mountain Training

Mountain Training requires evidence of a current first aid qualification at assessment for leader and instructor qualifications.

Indoor qualification schemes the minimum requirement is at least 1 day or 8hrs of instruction, including an element of assessment.

BCU - refers to the qualifications taken prior to the UKCC qualifications BC - (UKCC) and the Endorsement refers to the UKCC qualifications BC -refers to the qualifications taken from 2018 Whilst not all Paddlesport Instructors will need a First Aid qualification, we recommend they hold a minimum of a 1-day First Aid if working independently and will need to hold a current First Aid award if assessing British Canoeing Awards.
