Job Description
We are looking for a Senior Instructor to join the team at Hatt Adventures, based at our training centre and shop in Brighton Marina.
This is a great opportunity to take on a leadership role within our busy and exciting outdoor adventure company.
The role includes both administrative and instructional elements. You will be expected to work on your own as well as lead a team of experienced instructors. You will deliver and lead our portfolio of activities, including adventure skills courses, trips, and corporate events. You will support the delivery of training and supervision of junior staff and assist in the planning and administration of the operational schedule, such as compiling Event paperwork and staff rotas. You should be familiar with Health & Safety legislation and be comfortable carrying out equipment inspections and other maintenance tasks.
Locations
You will be responsible for assisting with staff training at our 2 sites, with your primary location in Brighton Marina:
- Brighton Marina (Training Centre and Shop).
- Portsmouth (Spinnaker Tower abseils).
Required Skills
You should be a well-qualified outdoor instructor with excellent communication and good computer skills. Management experience would be advantageous.
Practical SkillS
- Excellent leadership and people skills.
- Mountain Training - Rock Climbing Instructor.
- British Canoeing - L2 Kayak / Paddlesport Leader.
- Up to date logbooks demonstrating experience and currency of qualifications and best practice.
- First Aid (16hr Outdoor specific).
Administrative Skills
- Strong organisational skills.
- Good office administration skills.
- Great attention to detail.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- IT skills (ideally Macs).
- Excellent communication skills and customer service experience.
Additional Roles
- Managing equipment safety and PPE checks.
- Assist with staff training.
- Assist with staff rotas.
- Assist with writing staff newsletters.
Distinct Advantage
- Previous Senior Instructor Experience.
- MT - Mountain Leader.
- RYA - Powerboat Instructor or Commercially Endorsed License.
- Course Provider for Mountain Training or Paddle UK
- PCV (D1) Driving license.
- Rope Access Qualification.

Holiday
28 days per year.
Pay
£28-30,000 per annum depending on previous experience and qualifications. Pay is reviewed yearly depending on performance and growth of the business.
Hours
40hrs (normally 9-6pm) with 1hr for lunch over 5 days per week (including weekends) . You will also act as ‘duty manager’ on days off.
