The British Canoeing Surf Kayak Award traditionally consists of a one day assessment, however we have combined it into a 2 day course, with the first day as a warm up and skills refresher and the second day as the assessment, to allow your to perform at your best. There is no pre-requisit, for this award, however we recommend that you have already taken the Surf Kayak training course or have undergone some form of Surf Training.

If you feel you haven't had enough experience of surf kayaking to take the assessment, or would like to build on your skills and experience before getting the award, our Surf Kayak Award Training course is the perfect next step for you.

During the course we will cover

  • Beach safety
  • Surf theory
  • Predicting surf
  • Equipment selection
  • Kayaking techniques

These courses are run on a private booking basis, please contact us to make a booking.
