Two days on real rock, covering the full Level 1 and Level 2 self rescue syllabus.
This course brings together our Level 1 and Level 2 self rescue skills into a single two day course, run outdoors at a genuine climbing venue rather than indoors. If you'd rather learn on real rock and place your own protection as part of the course, this is the outdoor route through the same syllabus taught on our indoor Level 1 and Level 2 days.
Day one covers the Level 1 foundations: how and when to call Mountain Rescue, building a solid multi-point anchor, tying off a belay plate under load, escaping the system, and prusiking up and down the rope. Day two moves into Level 2, taking those foundations into real scenarios, an out of reach anchor, a second method of descent and ascent, passing a knot, and unassisted hoists for unconscious casualties.
Because you'll be leading routes using your own leader placed protection as part of the course, you should already be able to lead confidently on trad gear, ideally to around Severe 4a standard.
