A focused day for past rescue graduates to knock the rust off, indoors in Brighton.
This refresher is built specifically for climbers who've already done two days of rescue training in the past, whether with us or elsewhere, and want a single focused day to run back through those skills rather than starting again from scratch.
Run entirely at our indoor rescue training facility, the day covers the skills up to our Level 2 standard: anchor building, escaping the system, passing a knot on ascent and descent, assisted / unassisted hoists and controlled lowers. It's about pace, confidence and muscle memory, making sure that when you actually need one of these systems, you're not hesitating or working it out from first principles.
Your instructor will tailor the day around where you're rusty and where you're solid, moving quickly through what you've already got and spending more time on the systems you're less confident with.
What's Covered
- Anchor building and escaping the system
- Passing a knot on both ascent and descent
- A second method of descent and a second method of ascent
- Your first assisted hoist and your first controlled lower
- Scenario based problem solving throughout the day
How the Course Runs
- Run entirely at our indoor rescue training facility in Brighton, whatever the weather
- A short conversation at the start of the day to establish where you want the focus
- Fast paced revision of skills you're already confident with, more time on the rest
- A debrief at the end of the day, with pointers on what to keep practising
