FREC Level 3 Course (40hrs)

This 5-day course is designed for individuals working in, or entering, roles where advanced first aid and pre-hospital care skills are required. It is ideal for those operating in high-risk environments such as security, events, close protection, and emergency response settings.

Our highly qualified instructors will equip you with the knowledge, confidence, and practical skills needed to assess and manage a wide range of medical and trauma-related emergencies in a pre-hospital environment.

This course focuses on developing your ability to take control of emergency situations, carry out structured patient assessments, and provide effective care until professional medical services take over. You will also learn how to operate under pressure and make informed decisions in challenging conditions.

During the course, we will cover

  • Roles and Responsibilities of a First Responder.
  • Scene safety and incident management.
  • Patient assessment using the primary survey (ABCDE approach).
  • Managing collapsed casualties (with and without breathing).
  • CPR (adult) and AED use.
  • Airway management techniques.
  • Choking management.
  • Catastrophic bleeding control (including tourniquets and haemostatic dressings).
  • Shock recognition and treatment.
  • Burns and scalds

  • Medical emergencies (including cardiac, neurological and respiratory conditions).
  • Head, spinal, chest and limb injuries.
  • Fracture and soft tissue injury management.
  • Spinal immobilisation and casualty handling.
  • Use of first aid equipment in a pre-hospital setting.
  • Incident reporting and documentation.
  • Communication with emergency services.
  • Managing multiple casualties.
  • Environmental considerations and prolonged casualty care.
  • Practical scenario-based training.

This qualification is designed to provide realistic, scenario-based pre-hospital emergency care training with a strong emphasis on practical application. Learners will participate in simulated incidents to build confidence, competence, and decision-making skills in real-world situations.

The course is recognised as an entry-level qualification for those progressing into pre-hospital care roles and is widely used within the security, events, and emergency response sectors. It exceeds the requirements of basic first aid qualifications and prepares learners for working in dynamic and challenging environments.
