What to Expect on Your Abseil Instructor Workshop

Designed for qualified Climbing Instructors (indoor and outdoor instructors) Our Charity Abseil Instructor Training covers both operational and instructional elements, including:

  • Working at Height Regulations (WAHR), LOLER, PUWER and PPE.
  • Exclusion zones and public safety management.
  • Rope access principles (two anchors, two lines).
  • Anchor systems, rigging plates and load sharing.
  • Rope protection and edge management.
  • High Directionals and deviations.
  • Abseil devices including Petzl ID and RIG systems.

Aim

A workshop for those who want or already work on Charity Abseiling events, and want to improve their practical and theoretical knowledge.

Who is it for?

Designed for Qualified Climbing Instructors and Rope Access Technicians, who wish to fill in the gaps in their knowledge about Charity Abseil events.

Prerequisites

You must have one of the following qualifications (or higher):

  • RCI - Rock Climbing Instructor.
  • CWI (A) - Climbing Wall Instructor (with Abseil Module).
  • Rope Access Level 1 (IRATA / SPRAT / etc.)
  • Rope Rescue Operator.

No prior Charity Abseil experience is required.

Abseiling History

Abseiling, or rappelling as it is also known, was originally used to get back to the ground after rock climbing or to access sea cliffs, but these days abseiling has become a popular activity in its own right. Many people also use abseiling as a platform to raise money for a good cause by taking part in a charity abseil.
