AALA
The Adventure Activities Licensing Authority (AALA) came into existence in April 1996. It is currently sponsored by the Department for Work and Pensions. The Health and Safety Executive is currently designated as the AALA.
Adventure activities licensing ensures that activity providers follow good safety management practices. These should allow young people to experience exciting and stimulating activities outdoors without being exposed to avoidable risks of death or disabling injury.
Our license number is: R2180 and we are licensed for the following activities: Kayaking, Canoeing, Improvised Rafting, Rock Climbing, Abseiling, Hill Walking and Mountaineering, Stand Up Paddle Boarding.
To find out more visit you can visit the AALA website.
Risk Assessments
As we are AALA License holders, all of our risk Risk Assessments have been inspected, however copies are available upon written requrest.
Before applying to see our risk assessments please read the following: The head of AALA is apparently of the opinion that by seeing our Risk Assessments an organisation is accepting a part of the legal responsibility for them, and thereby becomes partly liable in law should anything covered by them go wrong. This is probably connected with the principle that the organisation becomes cognisant of the risks involved, and if you are asking to see the assessments it is assumed that you have read and understand and accept everything in them; and with the best will in the world people from one industry will not usually be able fully to understand the intricacies of another.
Please note that we are not legally trained however this point deserves some thought and you need to be informed before asking for our Risk Assessments.
If you would prefer to check we have them in place, rather than seeing them then you can follow this link the Adventurous Activities Licensing Authority website and enter our details (L11451/R2180).
