This is a basic 4 hour first aid course, designed for anyone to learn the basic first aid skills of preserving life, preventing further injuries and promoting the recovery of a casualty. This first aid course is suitable for everyone, from complete beginners to experienced first aiders looking for a quick refresher in the basics.
The focus of this Basic LIfe Support first aid course is to learn key life-saving skills, such as the appropriate first aid response to the most common accidents and first aid situations. You will also gain a grounding in up-to-date basic first aid theory and key skills necessary to become a compentant first aider. This course is not sufficient alone if students are looking to become an appointed person at their workplace. In order for candidates to fill this role they must take either the 1 day Emergency First Aid at Work course or the more comprehensive 3 day HSE First Aid at work course.
During the Basic Life Support first aid course we will cover:
- The aims & responsibilities of first aid
- Priorities of treatment
- Primary Assessment
- Adult CPR (Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation)
- Airway Obstruction
- Heart Attacks
