Our First Aid at Work course is HSE approved and conforms to the HSE First Aid at Work changes made on the 1st October 2009.
The First Aid at Work course is run over 3 days (18hrs) and is designed for those wishing to become a workplace first aider, able to deal confidently with a range of first aid incidents that could arise. This is the most comprehensive of our first aid training courses and is highly recommended since it covers all the necessary emergency and first aid procedure as outlined by government standards. Students learn not only what to do if a medical emergency occurs but most importantly how to avoid such incidents altogether through good communication and risk assements. We ensure a high quality of teaching and useful advice offering you and your collegues the confidence to fulfill the vital and important role of the appointed first aiders for your workplace, strengthening your personal career develpment and improving cohesion and organisation at work.
This First Aid at Work course exceeds the recommendations for the HSE First Aid at Work and is valid for a period of 3 years. However, the HSE strongly recommends that the candidate completes an annual 3 hour first aid refresher course in years 2 and 3. For more information on this please read our First Aid Assesment Manual for help and guidance.
This through course will teach using a mixture of fun lecture based work and practical demonstrations and assements to ensure all candidates are secure in their knowledge of first aid when they return to apply thier skills at work. Each First Aid at Work student will take away a personal first aid manual, face shield, dressing, triangular bandage and HSE approved first aid certificate which remains valid for 3 years upon completion.
During the HSE First Aid at Work course we will cover:
- The aims & responsibilities of first aid
- Incident management (including priorities of treatment)
- Primary & Secondary Assessments
- Adult CPR (Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation)
- Heart Attacks
- Bleeding
- Shock
- Bones, Joint & Muscle Injuries
- Burns
- Heat & Cold Injuries
- Practical and Written Assessments
