HSE - First aid at work courses run in Brighton, Sussex.

First Aid for the Work Place

Hatt Medics runs a number of HSE approved first aid courses based in Brighton, Sussex. We run ‘open’ first aid courses that are available to all members of the public and we also tailor make ‘bespoke’ first aid courses designed to fit in around business work patterns or for first aid needs in specific working environments.

Open First Aid Courses

We run open first aid training courses all year round and at a number of venues in Brighton and Sussex.

In-house First Aid Training
Our in-house first aid courses are tailored to suit your working needs, as we understand you require flexibility with training times. We will work with you to ensure the specific requirements of your working environment are met throughout your first aid training. We operate in the South East, but from our base in Brighton Sussex we can travel throughout the UK.

NEW - Changes to the HSE First Aid at Work – Oct 1st 2009

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) First Aid training courses have gone through a number of changes. These changes came into force on the 1st October 2009. For more information see below:

First Aid Courses Available

Basic Life Support
This is a 4 hour first aid course designed for anyone to learn the basic skills of preserving life, preventing further injuries and promoting the recovery of a casualty.

Emergency First Aid at Work

The Emergency First Aid at Work course is HSE approved and replaces the old ‘Appointed Persons’ course. This 1 day (6hr) course is designed to teach the essential first aid skills. Emergency First Aid at Work certificate is valid for a period of 3 years.

First Aid at Work

The First Aid at Work course is approved by the HSE and meets the ‘new’ HSE First Aid at Work standards that came in for effect on the 1st of October 2009. The course is run over 3 days (18hrs) and is designed for those wishing to become a workplace first aider able to deal with a range of first aid incidents.

First Aid at Work (Requalification)
The First Aid at Work Requalification course is designed to re-validate those with a current First Aid a Work certificate. The Course is run over 2 days (12hrs). This course will re-validate First Aid at Work certificates for a further 3 years.

First Aid Training – Legal Requirement

As an employer you are required by law to provide adequate and appropriate equipment, facilities and personnel to enable first aid to be given to employees if they are injured or become ill at work. These regulations apply to all workplaces including those with five or fewer employees and to the self-employed. How Many First Aid Trained Staff Do I need?

The relevant regulations are the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981. All workplaces are required to carry out a first aid assessment. Please see our guide to First Aid Assessments.
