Corporate Team Building Events

How does a team-building event work?

A team-building event is the perfect way to get your team working together to complete one particular challenge or to solve a range of physical and mental problems. The nature of the challenges of a team-building event will ensure that everybody has to play their role in ensuring the task is seen through to its end, one person not cooperating may mean the failure of the whole challenge for the team! In addition to everybody putting in the effort, the tasks will require that team members discuss solutions and work together; tasks may have a range of elements that need to be solved and worked on before the whole task can be completed and this will often require the input of a few different people.

Problem Solving

Problem Solving

Teams must compete against the clock in a series of problem solving challenges. Some of the challenges are physical, some mental and some require a great deal of skill but all can only be completed as a team necessitating good cooperation and teamwork and allowing different team members to excel in different tasks. In this way, team members will learn how to work efficiently together, establishing roles within the group and completing the tasks to the optimum standard to obtain the most points and beat their competitors!
Survivor

Survivor

Participants will be required to work as a closely integrated team to ensure the optimum results are reached in skills such as shelter building, creating fire, water purification, tracking and being rescued as well as learning the basic concepts of survival psychology. This task focuses on working with the natural environment to make it work to your advantage. They will then compete in teams against in each other in fun and challenging survival activities.
School Sports Day

School Sports Day

Revert to childhood with a School Sports Day style event and break up that conference or business meeting with a fun event that will allow them to work both individually and in groups and stretch those legs. Delegates will be guaranteed to have a laugh competing in such activities as the egg and spoon race, welly wanging, 3 legged race, dodge ball, the mighty tug of war and many more; great fun for everyone whether you are now an accomplished athlete or still trip over your own feet!
Lost

Lost

Your team have been trekking in a remote region of the jungle when disaster strikes- torrential rain washes all of their kit and the lead team members away. There are many hazards and they must safely navigate their way back to civilisation. Does your group have what it takes to work as a team and safely navigate their way out of the jungle? This task will ensure teammates work together establishing strengths, weaknesses and roles within the group and learning skills which will help them above and beyond this event alone.
Treasure Hunt

Treasure Hunt

A treasure hunt is an ideal way to get your employees exploring a new location and racing against time to solve clues and win the treasure! Events can be themed and can run in a range of different locations in Sussex, Kent and the rest of the UK, from a forest-based nature discovery to an urban city exploration.

How will a team-building event benefit individual delegates?

For some tasks, all working together may necessitate that roles are delegated within the group, which can be very insightful for observers or team members to see which participants are more dominant and willing to take charge while others are willing to step down and let somebody else take the lead. In this way, should it be necessary, the instructor present can ensure that all team members have a chance to lead and ensure that the less confident people step out of their comfort zones to experience a different way of participating in a group activity, which may be just what they need to help them be more self-confident and take control of situations in the future. Similarly, those more confident individuals can be encouraged to step down and let someone else take charge to experience a different way of working.

How will a team-building event help employees within a company to work better?

When working under time and mental pressures, working together efficiently may mean make or break for the success of the task, and this can translate easily into a corporate situation. In a competitive team-building situation, working well together can ensure the team scores more points and therefore are more likely to win the overall challenge over their competitors. This helps develop healthy and amicable competition between employees as well as building bonds within teams.

What should be the overall outcome of a team-building event?

Due to the competitive nature of this sort of event, teams are likely to experience high and low points throughout the challenge which will allow them to analyse their teamwork and communication skills, for example scoring the maximum amount of points possible for a part of a task or alternatively failing an element. However, whatever befalls them, the team spirit they have build throughout the course of the event should keep them looking forward to their ultimate goal of winning and having fun throughout! While one team will ultimately win overall, all teams will leave feeling a strong sense of achievement and camaraderie and hopefully will have gained some new companions, while understanding better the ways to work together to achieve success and attain goals far beyond the limits of the event itself.
