Women's Specific - Lead Climbing
Hatt Adventures and Sheactive have teamed up to provide a women's specific lead climbing course. This 2-day course is designed to
introduce a climber to the art of lead climbing on traditionally place protection. Learn how to lead climb placing your own protection
and brining up your second. Learn how to use single and double ropes, place protection (nuts, cams, hex’s etc.) and rope management
skills. For this course it is recommended that you can climb to a 4b/c standard. Courses are normally held in the Peak District National
Park, Wales, Devon and Cornwall, other areas are available.
During the course we will cover the following:
- Belaying a lead climber
- Equipment selection
- Anchors and runners
- Making a belay point
- Self protected abseiling
- Using guide books and route selection
You will also receive a Free T-shirt and a discount on climbing equipment.

- Equipment Needed
- Comfortable clothing and trainers. Due to the nature of the locations, you must have extra warm clothes and waterproofs, we will provide you with a kit list.
- Catering
- Please bring a packed lunch and plenty of water as there are normally no shops near the crags.
- Accommodation
- Advice can be given on local B&Bs, campsites etc. or we can book it for private group bookings
- Transport
- Lift sharing can be arranged, or we will meet at the venue.
