Welsh 3000 Challenge (24hr)

Welsh 3000 - 24hr Challenge. The challenge is to walk all the mountains in Wales over 3000ft in under 24 hours.

Undertake the Welsh 3000s Challenge!

The Welsh 3000s is the ultimate hill walking challenge and is much tougher than the 3 Peaks Challenge , the aim being to climb all 15 of the peaks over 3000ft in Wales in under 24hrs! If this sounds like your sort of thing then read on...

This well-known and well-regarded challenge is not to be underestimated. Throughout the 24 hours you will be ascending and descending approximately 8,000 meters and walking 30 miles with a large part of this taking place in darkness and over rough terrain. A very good level of fitness and determination is essential as at times you will feel physically and mentally drained, however all this will feel worth it with the support of your team and the sense of team spirit you will have built throughout the challenge. While you will feel exhausted upon completion of the challenge, the sense of achievement and satisfaction will make it all worthwhile!

This is the ultimate hill walking challenge and is a brilliant opportunity to test your limits, whether you're a avid hiker or just want to actively challenge yourself with this highly-regarded and difficult walk. If you want to add an extra element to the challenge and give yourself an additional goal you could even get your friends to sponsor you to make this a charity event!

Your highly experienced and qualified guide will ensure your safety and keep you on track throughout the challenge. For this reason an organised trip such as this one is ideal for those who are not confident in their own navigation skills or walking in the dark without a guide and have little or no experience of first aid in the event an injury should occur- all these worries will be taken care of by your guide.

All those who complete the challenge within the 24 hours will receive a FREE t-shirt!

Please note: the Welsh 3000s Challenge can run whenever organisations or individuals decide to undertake the challenge, is not a single large event that runs with everybody who wishes to take the challenge participating on one particular date. If you have a group of 6 or more wishing to partake you can choose your own dates and we will organise the challenge for you on your selected date. Alternatively, with a smaller group, please contact us to find out our upcoming dates and make a booking.

If you would love to attempt this challenge but have limited mountain walking experience or are not fully confident of your fitness or gear why not attend one of our Mountain Training Days to test your fitness levels and break you (and your boots!) in gently?

If you fancy a challenge but maybe something a bit less demanding why not try the UK 3 Peaks Challenge?

During the challenge you will be provided with:

  • One night's accommodation
  • First nights meal, mountain meals, hot drinks and snacks
  • FREE T-Shirt

• Descent 3997m (13,114 ft)
• Estimated Time 20-24hours

A fairly high level of fitness is recommended due to the stamina required to complete this challenge, however anyone is welcome to have a go!

Day 1
Travel up from Brighton to North Wales collecting challengers as we go. This will take most of the day but it's a great chance to get to know the people you'll be completing the challenge with. In the evening we'll enjoy a hot meal before the mountain safety briefing, and then off to bed early for a good night's rest!

Day 2
Up early and we'll make our way to the foot of Crib Goch- a knife edge ridge with almost vertical drops on either side which leads us to Garnedd Ugain and then onto Mount Snowdon, the largest peak in Wales! From the peak our route descends to the valley bottom allowing us to meet our support vehicle, have a short break and get some well earned lunch. From here its all back uphill as we tackle another series of mountains including the Glyders and Tryfan which hosts the two distinctive standing stones Adam and Eve- dare you make the jump?! At the foot of Tryfan we will have dinner before ascending for the final time.

Day 3
The final section will be almost entirely in darkness so plenty of head torch batteries are required! This will obviously make navigation harder but guiding you all the way will be one of our Mountain Leaders. The challenge is a difficult one but we descend to the valley floor 3 times to meet our support vehicle so don't worry if you really can't go on, you can always get in the wagon! With the challenge over we will all journey home, tired but very happy!
