Scrambling in the Lake District

Scrambling trip in the Lake District the group get to grips with the rocky terrain.
Scrambling in The Lake District

Somewhere between hillwalking and rock climbing, scrambling is a diverse and challenging way to explore the beautiful mountains of the Lake District! With a great sense of acheivement upon reaching the summit you'll be left wanting to do more! Through out the day you will be getting to grips with rocky obsticles, learning about route and equipment selection, reading guidebooks and learning how to stay safe on the mountain.

If you fancy a bit more of a challenge than your average walk in the hills our highly qualified Mountain Leaders will provide you with the skills, knowledge and confidence to carry on having scrambling adventures after the course. We also run scrambling trips to North Wales!

If you're looking for mountain challenges you may also be interested in our 3 Peaks Challenge or the Welsh 3000's!

We also run ECP Wilderness First Aid for a more in depth look at carrying out first aid in remote places.

Which scrambles we choose to do is dependant on weather conditions but to give you an idea on what to expect here are a few classic routes...

Helvellyn via Striding Edge - 950m Grade 1

One of the most spectacular and best known ridges in England. Experience a bit of exposure along the ridge of Striding Edge and make your way up to Helvellyn, the third highest mountain in England.

Slab and Notch to Pillar Rock - Grade 2

A classic scramble in the Lakes, not for the faint hearted and getting on for rock climbing but fantastic scramble worth the effort!

Threading the Needle - Grade 2

This scramble is easier than climbing Napes Needle itself but offers great scrambling opportunities with amazing views of the Lake District!
