Navigation GPS

In this day and age of gadgets and gizmos, handheld GPS (Global Positioning System) devices are an extremely popular navigation tool. However, while GPS devices are a very useful piece of equipment which can give precise readings of information such as exact location, current altitude etc. there is often a misconception that GPS devices can replace traditional map reading techniques. While GPS systems are very useful, they are not accurate 100% of the time and readings can vary depending on environmental conditions, therefore map and compass reading skills are also necessary to navigate efficiently.
This course will teach you how to get the most out of your GPS device and use it in conjunction with your map to become an extremely useful navigation aid. Previous necessary experience of map and compass reading and navigation can be gained with our Navigation Basics or Navigation Skills courses, but any other relevant experience will help you get the most out of this course.
