Learn To Lead Climb On Single Pitch Routes

Learn the art of lead climbing on traditionally placed protection with this lead climbing course. During the course you will be guided by an experienced MIA qualified instructor, who will help you familiarise yourself with the traditional rock climbing equipment and techniques that differ to 'top-roped' climbing, then will teach you how to lead climb placing your own protection (nuts, cams, hexes etc.), constructing a belay stance and bringing up your second. We will also teach you how to do this on single and double ropes and then how to descend safely to the ground protecting yourself abseiling.

This course is a fantastic opportunity to climb some classic routes that you may not previously have had access to, and to explore and push your climbing ability. Courses can be held in a number of locations- we've got loads of suggestions of great climbing areas which can be chosen depending on the type of climbing or even scenery you're after, or you can select a crag of your choice (popular locations include the Peak District, Cornwall, Wales and many more).

At the end of the course you will have all the skills needed to safely go off and climb on the sharp end of the rope! We also run self rescue and multi-pitch climbing courses and these can be combined into a week long course to really boost your skills and confidence.

For this course it is recommended that you can climb to a 4b/c standard for you to get the most out of this experience and enhance your skill development.

Having already attended the introduction to rock climbing course we had already experienced the first class tuition that Hatt Adventures provides. The lead climbing course was even better. Tom & Ian assessed our goals and capabilities over the 3 days. They would repeatedly push our boundaries in a supportive and fun way, but safety was always paramount.

Tom and Ian have a real passion for the outdoors that naturally rubs off onto you. They are skilled, knowledgeable and really care about empowering you with first class training so you can go out and achieve your goals. They are also both genuine and nice guys that we shared the evenings with after each day had finished.

Since attending the course we have successful climbed Triglav’s North Face (Europe’s 2nd biggest wall) I simply would not have had the confidence to make a bold moves while being backed in a corners, or the belief in my equipment in the event of a fall. We all acknowledge without their training this climb would not have been possible.

Thank you for 3 memorable days.

Jon and I got back from north wales today. Just thought id let you know how much we learnt and enjoyed ourselves!

Ian is very professional, great fun and a very nice guy! The course was very informative and Jon and I cannot wait to get our own gear and get on the rocks again (even though it might break the bank haha).

Spectacular once again Tom :)
