River Cuckmere Kayaking Trip - East Sussex

River Cuckmere Kayaking Trip

Kayaking on the River Cuckmere - Cuckmere Haven to Alfriston

The river and it’s surrounding area is home to some truly spectacular scenery including the dramatic chalk cliffs of the Seven Sisters, which is also very popular amongst walkers. Just upstream from here we will be taking a small tidal river that cuts through one of the most beautiful valleys in the South Downs! As the river meanders through Cuckmere Valley you’ll be passing through quaintly picturesque villages and witnessing stunning views of the South Downs including the sights of the White Horse of Litlington, a chalk silhouette that dominates the east bank of the valley. There is also plenty of wildlife to be spotted as you explore the river...you may even be lucky and spot an otter or a mink!

The trip will be adapted to meet the ability of the group, no matter how much experience you have we can cater for complete beginners to expert paddlers. If you have any reservations about getting out on the water our highly qualified instructors will assist you and give you confidence throughout the trip.

Thank you for a wonderful day, Tom was a great guide allowing us to go at our own pace and giving very useful and individual advice about how we could improve. The river was quite varied with an exciting overgrown bit, a really fun day

We were really excited to ring on Friday and so lucky to get to do a kayaking trip on the Cuckmere river the next day. It was bright sun and the whole experience was a delight. The river was so beautiful and the spring tide helped us all the way to Alfriston. Our party of four aged between 19 and mid 50s managed without difficulty. Tom was a great guide and excellent company. We came close to swans and ducks and even saw a grass snake swimming past the kayaks. The equipment was brilliant and just right for us

Both myself and my sister had a fantastic day kayaking on the Cuckmere. Neither of us had done much kayaking before and spent the first 10 mins going round in circles but our guide gave us plenty of helpful tips and before long we spent most of our time moving in the right direction! The scenery was beautiful and it was a perfect way to relax at the start of my holiday. Many thanks.
