River Arun (Upper) Kayaking Trip - West Sussex

Kayaking River Arun Trip

Kayaking on the River Arun  - Stopham Bridge (Near Pulborough) to Pallingham Quay

Explore the upper reaches of the River Arun as it finds its way up to Pllingham Quay. This section of the river is truly stunning - surrounded by fantastic countryside - there are plenty of wildlife spotting opportunities! If you are lucky, you may even spot a Kingfisher along the way!  The river is surrounded by open fields to start with but becomes smaller and more wild as you travel further upstream.

Had a brilliant kayaking trip on the River Arun in Sussex thanks to Tom at Hatt. A great four hours spent in the sunshine on the water, starting and ending at Stopham Bridge and with a pit stop on the way. Wonderful scenery and gentle enough for everyone in the group. Plus there's even a pub at the end point for a well-earned pint.

Highly recommended and will definitely do it again!

Great day out with our friendly and knowledgeable guide Tom. Tom was able to tailor our trip on the river to our needs - four middle aged and rather unfit people. We wanted a day where we would be a bit challenged but also able to enjoy the water, scenery and wildlife. Tom was able to make sure we felt both safe but also provided a memorable day out. Very much recommended!

It was a great way to get together and spend an active day with my children, who are now away from home working or at uni. We all really enjoyed it. Thanks!

Had a great introduction to kayaking on the River Arun with Tom, who was as patient with two creaky old men as he was with their over-enthusiastic children. But if you're a beginner, heed his advice and don't try and make a whole day of it... it's tiring stuff!

Three middle aged mums with five teenagers had a great time on a perfect summer's day in beautiful countryside. Tom was a great guide - he was patient, calm and fun and encouraged us all the way. Great tuition which stopped us from going around in circles! Would recommend for a good family day out for mixed ages.

I booked myself, husband and two teenage boys (14 and 16) on the river arun trip, June 2012. Our very friendly guide Tom was waiting for us when we arrived with the equipment all ready. We went over the basics on land for a few mins and then had a very exciting launch. My husband capsized immediateley - very much to the delight of the kids!! The first 15 mins or so things were a little tricky as these river kayaks are a lot more sensitive that the sea kayaks we had prior experience with. However with Toms patient guidance we were soon all gliding along the serene river banks very nicely, spotting herons and swans along the way. After a picnic lunch on the river bank, on our way back, Tom produced a ball and we had great fun in an excellent game that had us madly chasing down the ball by kayak - nudging each other, turning small circles and going backwards like pro's.

I thoroughly recommend this trip for a family with active teenagers or a group of adventurous adults.
