Charity Abseils

Charity Abseils
Charity abseils are a very popular way to raise money for your chosen charity while experiencing a thrill at the same time! They are easy to organise and there are loads of options of unique places to abseil from. Choose from buildings, cliff faces, man made towers, viaducts, sports grounds, bridges and famous buildings. That’s the great thing about organising a sponsored abseil event, you can appeal not only to those with a fear of heights who want a challenge, but also to those who want the thrill of abseiling in a great location!
Unlike many other sponsored events, abseiling can be undertaken by people of all abilities meaning anyone young or old, fit or un-fit can have a go and raise money for your charity.
Abseiling Venues
There are two ways we can help you with your charity abseil location. Firstly you can choose one of our existing venues throughout the UK, in which case we can arrange this venue for you for your chosen date. Secondly, you can choose your own building/structure. If you have chosen to use a building such as your office block or a public building we need to liaise with the building manger, and conduct a recce of your chosen abseil site to see if it is suitable. We will then produce all of the relevant paperwork including a written risk assessment. Should your chosen location be unsuitable for any reason we will help you choose an alternative venue and organise everything necessary to put your plan into action!
How Many Abseil Ropes Do I Need?
This is dependent on a large number of things; the location, access to the abseil point, the length of the abseil and most importantly the number and speed of the abseiliers themselves. We are not in the habit of packing people in like horses, as we and our instructors pride ourselves on providing an amazing experience to each and every client, encouraging them to achieve their goals.
However we also understand that the more people that abseil the more money your event raises for charity (and that after all is the main point of the abseil) so we will do our best to get as many people abseiling as possible.
As a rough guide for a 50ft abseil we can get approximately 20 people abseiling on one rope per hour.
Abseiling Locations
Below are a few of the venues we have previously used or recommend. Please contact us for more information on finding a suitable abseiling location.
Sussex - Abseiling Tower
We have couple of 30ft abseil towers that we use for small events or those events on a limited budget.
Sussex - Peacehaven
Just East of Brighton is Peacehaven with its stunning 90ft chalk cliff abseil overlooking the sea. - This is venue currently out of action until 2011 due to building works.
The Peak District
There are a couple of options: firstly we can organise a cliff abseil approximately 50ft in height, or secondly you can abseil 90ft from a bridge over a river. Don't worry, you won't be swimming out afterwards!
London
London has a vast number of buildings that are ideal for abseiling down, your office block may even be one of them.
Medical Cover
Although all of our instructors are first aid trained, their main focus is the safety of the abseiliers and making sure nothing goes wrong in the first place. For big events with a large number of abseilers or events with multiple attractions we can also provide a medical team on the ground.
Health and Safety
We take health and safety very seriously but with common sense in mind. We run a huge range of activities in hazardous environments including providing safety services to the television and film industry. All of our staff are first aid trained and qualified abseiling instructors. Where required our senior instructor is either an MIA or MIC award holder.
Insurance
We hold £5 million public and product liability and employers liability as standard.
