BCU - 2 Star Award

Develop Your Canoe and Kayak Skills With the BCU's 2 Star Award
The British Canoe Union’s 2 Star Award is designed as an improvement award helping paddlers to develop the fundamental paddle sport skills on flat water. The 2 day course covers both kayak and canoe skills and the assessment takes place in both types of craft, therefore a previous knowledge and skill of canoeing and kayaking is necessary. This is to encourage breadth of experience on the water and understanding of the interaction between the craft, the paddle, and the water, and of course the paddler.
During the course we will ensure you have or develop all the relevant skills and theory needed to gain the award and encourage you to develop your skills beyond those necessary just for the assessment.
Previous qualification with the 1 Star Award is advisable but not essential, provided you already possess the necessary skills required for the 1 Star Award assessment. If you have not already completed the 1 Star Award, you will be additionally tested on these skills during the 2 Star Award assessment.
