BCU - 3 Star White Water Kayak - Assessment

British Canoe Union 3 Star White Water Kayak Award
The BCU 3 Star White Water Kayak Award (formerly known as the BCU 3 Star Inland Kayak Award) conventionally consists of a one day assessment, however in order for you to warm up, brush up on your skills and perform at your best for the assessment we have combined it into a 2 day course with the assessment taking place on the second day. While it is not imperative, before taking the assessment it is recommended that you have already taken the BCU 2 Star Award and undergone 3 Star White Water Kayak Training. However, if you have not taken the previous awards or training session but feel you have sufficient relevant experience it is best contact us to discuss taking the assessment.
The award will assess and build upon the skills of previous white water experience while preparing you for a range of white water situations in the future. The assessment will require evidence of at least 3 previous white water sessions (log book) in more than one location, and skills including advanced control of the kayak (e.g.ferry gliding), capsize recovery and theory among other skills.
If you are an experienced kayaker but have never tried white water kayaking, or would like to build on your skills and experience before getting the award, our BCU 3 Star White Water Kayak Training course is the ideal next step for you.
