BCU - 3 Star Surf Kayak - Assessment
British Canoe Union 3 Star Surf Kayak Award
The BCU 3 Star Surf Kayak Award traditionally consists of a one day assessment, however we have combined it into a 2 day course, with the first day as a warm up and skills refresher and the second day as the assessment, to allow your to perform at your best. In order for you to take the assessment it is recommended that you have already taken the 2 Star Award and undergone 3 Star Surf Training. This, however, is not essential so if you have not taken the previous awards or training session but feel you have sufficient relevant experience it is best to contact us to discuss taking the assessment.
The course will build upon and assess the skills previously learnt in the 3 Star Surf Kayak Training. The assessment will require evidence of at least 3 previous surfing sessions (i.e. log book) in more than one location, and skills including control of the kayak, positioning and wave selection, capsize recovery and theory.

Pre-requisites
There are no pre-requisite awards for assessment, however you must be a competent kayaker with experience in surf kayaking (you must provide evidence of at least 3 surfing sessions in more than 1 location). It is recommended that you hold the BCU 2 Star award and have undergone the BCU 3 Star Surf Kayak Traning or have equivalent experience.
